 THE PRIMERS

INITIAL PHASE (First 3-4 weeks)

The Primers in Indian languages developed by NCERT, are introduced in class VI for promotion of multilingualism in Kendriya Vidyalayas in line with NEP 2020 , which are specifically designed for beginners and focus on foundational literacy skills such as vocabulary, sounds and simple sentence structures.

SUBSEQUENT PHASE:

After the initial familiarisation period, school may gradually transition to appropriate NCERT/CBSE textbooks. The above approach is in consonance with the competency based and learner centric principles of NEP 2020, ensuring that language acquisition is progressive, stress-free and contextually meaningful.
